Child Custody And Parenting Time

Custody disputes of the children are serious and complicated. Our firm has years of
experience in litigating child custody.

If the parents can agree on parental rights and responsibilities (“custody”), the
agreement must be in writing and presented to the court for approval.  If the parents
cannot agree, the court must decide the case.  This process is complicated with many
factors used to determine the best interest of the child or children.  Early planning and
preparation is an important factor to prove the best interest of the children.

Both the parents and the Court have several options:

A Shared Parenting Plan;

Residential Parenting Status and Non-Residential Parenting with
visitation schedule.  The visiting schedule may be modified by the Court
or by agreement between the parties;

For those situations where it is dangerous for one of the parents to
be alone with the children, provisions can be made in a court order for
supervised visitation.

The custody of children will affect the lives of those children and their parents, not only
during the time that the children are minors, but the custody determination will affect
the lives of both the parents and the children for the rest of everyone's life.
